Train your dog like a professional, class for life skills and engagement!
Have you ever wondered how professional dog trainers train their dogs? Well, it’s not just fun and games, a lot of it is focused on calm manners around distractions and engagement with the owner, not the environment. And that’s what this class teaches you to focus on! A great relationship with your dog means that you need to do engagement training and teach your dog that you are the most fun thing around. It also means teaching your dog to ignore distractions and be able to calm down when needed. These are the important life skills I focus on with my own dogs, and guess what? They are a pleasure to be around! And calm when left waiting!
Good Life Skills Make Your Life Easier!
Everyone wants a well-behaved dog who doesn’t become a menace outdoors, of course. Good, calm manners make daily life with your dog a lot easier and enjoyable. No one enjoys a dog who can not calm down when you are trying to focus on something else. Or a dog who whines and barks when you leave them waiting outside a cafe. These are just a few examples of the skills we will practise!
This Class Is Perfect For:
- Young dogs from 16 weeks of age, this is a perfect class for reinforcing calm manners early on!
- Owners who want to improve their relationship with their dog.
- Dogs who need independence and calming down practise.
- Anyone who wants their dog to focus on them, not the environment.
This Class Is NOT Suited For:
- Reactive or aggressive dogs who can not calm down around other dogs or distractions.
- Dogs needing socialisation, there’s no socialisation what so ever included in this class.
- Severely anxious dogs, private training is a better option for them!

Every dog should learn to calm down and do nothing, because let’s face it, sometimes life is simply boring!
I’m a huge fan of crate training for many reasons, but most importantly because it can be the safe place for your dog in situations that might otherwise be over-whelming. And it’s a great way to travel with your dog!
This class is not for playtime with other dogs. One of the most important life skills every dog should learn is ignoring other dogs and people. This way you don’t need to chase your dog around the park because they are running after everyone. There should be a time and place for playtime, it’s not something to do all the time with everyone!
This is why dog trainers’ dogs are so obedient: they absolutely adore their owners and want to do things with them, not with the environment. In this class you will learn fun engagement exercises that will help you create a strong bond with your dog!
Did you know that for your dog everything around them has some sort of value? The most common issue people have with their dogs is that their dog loses focus when anything else, more interesting, is around.
This leads up to chasing your dog at the park, yelling at them, luring them with treats etc. And it’s not fun for anyone! A dog should obey and focus on you anytime because they want to – not because nothing more interesting was around! We’ll build up this focus by making you more valuable to your dog.
I can not stand dogs that jump on tables to eat anything they can, steal food off your hands every chance they get and lunge towards every left over lunch they find off the street. A life with a dog gets a lot easier when you can tell your dog that something is off-limits to them. It takes a lot of focus, impulse control and willpower from your dog especially when you want them to leave food. But when mastered, it is a very impressive life skill!
Dogs need to learn what is expected of them. We will use treats to motivate them to offer the behaviours we need but we need to also fade away the treats to create reliable obedience skills. In this class you will learn how to train dogs using positive training methods and how to work towards your goal: having a dog who obeys you whether you have treats or not!
For this class you’ll need:
- Crate for your dog
- Kong toy(s)
- Licky mat
- Something delicious to chew on such as a bully stick, pig ear, bone etc.
- 5-meter recall leash
