4-Week Dog Obedience Class in Alexandria only $280!
60-minute weekly lessons
Location: Dogs in Town, 266 Mitchell Rd, Alexandria
- Classes are limited to 2 people per dog.
- 3-10 dogs per class, depending on location
Obedience class for dogs. Suitable for all breeds of fully vaccinated dogs, no matter the skill level. All dogs must be on a vaccination program and up to date with their vaccines.
- 4 weeks of training with an experienced & professional dog trainer.
- Great dog training class for everyone who wants to improve their dog’s daily manners.
- Training includes: Distraction training and more advanced obedience training for commands such as sit, down, stay, come, heel and leave it. Engagement and impulse control training. Calming down exercises, such as place training. Calm and polite greeting manners with other dogs and people.
- This class is not suitable for separation anxiety training, or for dogs with anxieties, reactivity or aggression issues
1st lesson: Foundations + Focus
- Effective communication: positive and negative markers (aka teaching the meaning of ‘no’)
- Engagement exercise: reinforcing attention
- Advanced ‘sit’ and ‘down’ – without a lure or ahand signal!
- Polite and calm greeting manners
2nd lesson: Impulse Control + Advanced ‘Leave It’
- Recap of the previous week
- Advanced ‘stay’
- Leave it: foundation, beginner and advanced level exercises
- Calm around distractions
- Boundaries with food/treats/toys
- Building value to the owner: treat hunt
3rd lesson: Positional Cues + Stationary Calm
- Recap of the previous week
- Advanced ‘leave it’ in real life situations
- Long duration ‘stay’ for calm waiting skills
- Recall
- Heeling
4th lesson: Distractions, Proofing + Practical Skills
- Basic obedience around distractions
- Advanced recall
- Calm leash manners when passing others
- Greeting other dogs: 2-second rule
