60-minute weekly lessons
Location: Dogs in Town, 55 Addison Rd, Marrickville
- Classes are limited to 2 people per dog.
- Max 10 dogs per class, depending on location
Dog obedience class in Marrickville
Suitable for all breeds of fully vaccinated dogs, no matter the skill level. All dogs must be on a vaccination program and up to date with their vaccines.
- Great dog training class for everyone who wants to improve their dog’s daily manners and learn more advanced training
- This class is not suitable for separation anxiety training, or for dogs with anxieties, reactivity or aggression issues
1st lesson: Foundations + Focus
- Effective communication: positive and negative markers (aka teaching the meaning of ‘no’)
- Engagement exercise: reinforcing attention
- Advanced ‘sit’ and ‘down’ – without a lure or a hand signal!
- Polite and calm greeting manners
2nd lesson: Impulse Control + Advanced ‘Leave It’
- Recap of the previous week
- Advanced ‘stay’
- Leave it: foundation, beginner and advanced level exercises
- Calm around distractions
- Boundaries with food/treats/toys
- Building value to the owner: treat hunt
3rd lesson: Positional Cues + Stationary Calm
- Recap of the previous week
- Advanced ‘leave it’ in real-life situations
- Long duration ‘stay’ for calm waiting skills
- Recall
- Heeling
4th lesson: Distractions, Proofing + Practical Skills
- Basic obedience around distractions
- Advanced recall
- Calm leash manners when passing others
- Greeting other dogs: 2-second rule
