Why Our Marrickville Puppy School Gets Results
You’ll See Results After the Very First Class: Every session is practical from the moment you arrive. The skills are easy to follow and your puppy will start responding sooner than you expect.
A Structured Program That Covers Everything: Sit, down, stay, come, leash manners, calm greetings and impulse control — it’s all here in one progressive program. No need to piece together advice from different sources.
Proper Early Socialisation: Socialisation is carefully managed, not just puppies running loose together. Your puppy learns to feel calm and confident around other dogs and people in a safe, structured setting.
Small Classes, Real Attention: We cap Marrickville classes at 8 puppies so your trainer can watch your dog’s individual progress, answer your specific questions and adjust guidance to suit your pup’s personality.
Trainers Who Genuinely Love What They Do: Our team brings real experience and enthusiasm to every class. If something isn’t clicking for your puppy, we’ll work out why and help you get there.

Eazy Dog Training Puppy Preschool in Marrickville includes
1st Class: Basic Obedience Commands
The first lesson is all about understanding how dogs learn — and how to make training work for your specific puppy. We cover the core commands (sit, down, stay, come, leave it) and introduce a marker cue so your puppy starts making clear connections between their actions and rewards. You’ll also get practical, fast-working toilet training advice to take home straight away.
2nd Class: Socialisation
Week two focuses on something most owners never get taught — how to actually understand what your puppy is communicating. We break down body language, stress signals and what healthy social interaction looks like. Your puppy will experience controlled sound & object desensitisation, calm handling practice and supervised interactions with other pups.
3rd Class: Polite Dog Manners
Good manners are built through clear, consistent guidance — and this class gives you exactly that. We cover loose-leash walking, polite greetings and the leave it command, plus the everyday challenges every new owner faces: jumping up, nipping, pulling, chewing. You’ll leave with specific, practical strategies you can start using that same afternoon.
4th Class: Mental Stimulation
The final session shifts focus to your puppy’s mental needs — one of the most overlooked parts of raising a well-adjusted dog. A mentally stimulated puppy is calm, confident and far less likely to develop anxiety or destructive habits. We introduce nosework, problem-solving games and independence exercises, and cover what ongoing mental enrichment should look like beyond puppy school.
What’s a Good Age for this Puppy School in Marrickville?
8-12 Weeks Is the Best Possible Time for Puppy School!
The Socialisation Window: Why Timing Matters
A puppy’s most critical developmental period runs from birth to around 16 weeks of age — with the sweet spot being 8–12 weeks. During this window, puppies are uniquely receptive to new experiences. What they learn now shapes how they respond to the world as adults.
If you want a confident, friendly, social dog, this is the time to act.
Some vets and breeders advise against taking puppies out before they’re fully vaccinated at 16 weeks — which would mean missing the entire socialisation window. This is outdated advice. Studies show that puppies who miss this period are significantly more likely to develop anxiety, fearfulness, and aggression towards dogs or people. A well-run puppy school in a clean, controlled environment is safe and essential.
Don’t wait for full vaccination to start — wait too long, and you’re working against your puppy’s natural development.
Got a Question?
What is puppy training?
Puppy training is the process of teaching your puppy essential skills and good behaviour from an early age. It focuses on basic commands like sit, stay, come, and leash manners, as well as socialisation, impulse control, and problem-solving. Puppy training helps your dog develop good habits, builds a strong bond between you and your dog, and sets the foundation for a well-behaved dog in adulthood. It also addresses important skills for dealing with distractions, meeting new people or animals, and managing fear or anxiety in different environments.
What age can my puppy join puppy classes?
Any time from 8 weeks to 16 weeks of age, after their first vaccination at 6 weeks of age. Puppy schools are never run in public parks, only in private and safe spaces with no increased health risks from un-known dogs.
When is the best time to join puppy school?
As early as possible from 8 weeks of age. The best time to join puppy school is typically between 8 to 16 weeks of age. This is when puppies are most receptive to learning and socialising, and their critical developmental period for socialisation occurs. Early training helps set a strong foundation for good behaviour, builds confidence, and reduces the risk of behavioural issues in the future. However, even if your puppy is older, it’s never too late to start training and socialising them! Our teen classes are great for older puppies!
My puppy hasn't been fully vaccinated yet, can I still join puppy school?
Yes, in fact the most important socialisation period for dogs is 8-12 weeks of age, this is ideal for puppy school as well. Studies show no increased health risks in puppy schools and plenty of benefits. Puppy schools should always be run in private locations, not in public outdoors spaces. All our locations are safe and cleaned with F10 which vets use as well.
How many puppies are in each Marrickville puppy class?
Our Marrickville puppy classes run with a maximum of 8 puppies per class. This means every puppy and owner gets genuine individual attention throughout each session. It also keeps socialisation structured and calm — far better for learning than a large, overwhelming group.
My puppy is over 16 weeks — can they still attend puppy school?
Our Marrickville puppy preschool is designed for puppies up to 16 weeks, within the critical socialisation window. If your pup is older, our Teen Dog Classes are the perfect fit — covering all the foundations and tackling common adolescent behaviours head-on.
What will my puppy learn in the Marrickville puppy classes?
Our 4-week puppy class covers basic commands (sit, down, stay, come), socialisation, impulse control, leash manners and common issues like biting and jumping up. You’ll also learn how dogs think, so your training stays effective and consistent at home between classes.
Is the Marrickville puppy preschool suitable for small breeds?
Absolutely! Our puppy classes welcome all breeds and sizes. Socialisation is always managed carefully so every puppy — from a tiny Chihuahua to a large Labrador — has a safe, positive experience. Small breeds especially benefit from structured early socialisation.
Is there still availability in the Marrickville puppy school?
Check our live booking calendar above — if a Marrickville puppy class is sold out it will show as unavailable. If it’s showing, it’s bookable! Classes fill up quickly so we recommend booking as soon as your puppy has had their first vaccination.
