Eazy Dog Training Puppy Schools in Alexandria include:
1st Class: Basic Obedience
In the first class, we’ll cover the foundations of dog training, with a focus on raising and training puppies. Your puppy will begin learning essential cues such as sit, down, stay, and come, while also developing important engagement and focus skills. We’ll introduce marker training and explore the fundamentals of clear communication, helping you build a strong training foundation and a positive relationship with your puppy.
2nd Class: Socialisation
In the second class, we’ll explore how to read your dog’s body language and understand the role of proper socialisation in raising a confident, well-adjusted dog. Learning to recognise your puppy’s communication signals will help you prevent and address potential behavioural issues before they develop. Puppies will also begin place training, build confidence through sound desensitisation exercises, and practise positive handling techniques to prepare them for grooming, veterinary visits, and everyday care.
3rd Class: Manners
In this class, you’ll learn how to teach your puppy polite manners and establish clear boundaries for success at home and in public. We’ll cover loose-leash walking skills and appropriate introductions to other dogs, helping your puppy develop good social etiquette. Puppies will also practise impulse control, calm greetings without jumping, and the “leave it” cue. In addition, we’ll provide practical guidance on toilet training, puppy biting, chewing, and other common puppy behaviours, giving you the tools to prevent unwanted habits before they become established.
4th Class: Mental Stimulation
In this class, you’ll explore fun and practical ways to keep your puppy mentally stimulated, helping to reduce the risk of separation anxiety, destructive behaviours, and compulsive habits. We’ll build on loose-leash walking skills and introduce engaging activities such as search games and simple trick training to keep your puppy focused and fulfilled. You’ll also learn strategies to encourage independence and confidence, supporting your puppy to feel calm and settled both at home and when alone.
What Age Is Good for Joining Our Puppy School in Alexandria?
All puppies in our Alexandria puppy preschool must be 8-16 weeks of age by the start date of the class and have had at least the first vaccination at 6 weeks of age.
8-12 Weeks Is the Ideal Time for Puppy School
A puppy has a key developmental period that ends around 12 weeks of age. That’s why the first 12 weeks are the most crucial weeks for socialization. If you wish to raise a balanced, friendly, confident and social dog, this is the best time for puppy school. But don’t worry if your pup is older, the 16 weeks of age limit still applies!
Breeders and vets often advise against socialisation before the puppy is fully vaccinated at 16 weeks of age (to be exact, vets tell you to wait an additional two weeks for the vaccine to take full effect) or to at least wait until the second one. This is not necessary! In fact, this can be harmful to your puppy’s social development since the most important socialisation period is from 8 to 16 weeks of age. Any lack of socialisation within this time frame can result in behavioural issues.
Our puppy school locations are always private, classes are not held in public dog parks and all our spaces are cleaned and sprayed with F10 heavy-duty kennel cleaner before and after each class, the same stuff vets use! So it’s perfectly safe to come and take advantage of the most crucial puppy socialisation period of the first 16 weeks of age.
Why is it best to attend sooner than later? Studies have taught us that if a puppy isn’t socialised well and in a positive way before 16 weeks of age they might never be completely comfortable with new experiences or in new situations. This is a survival instinct inherited from wolves, anything puppies meet positively before 16 weeks of age becomes normal and acceptable. After 16 weeks of age, dogs change and aren’t as adaptable to new situations or as welcoming of new experiences as they were before.
When can you start training your puppy? Right away! Puppies learn all the time so it’s best to start from day one.

What is puppy training?
Puppy training gives your dog the skills and confidence to navigate the world around them. It covers the basics — sit, down, stay, come, leash manners — but also the important stuff: socialisation, impulse control and how to handle everyday situations like meeting strangers, passing other dogs or settling at home. Starting early means you’re building good habits before unwanted ones become established.
What age can my puppy join puppy classes?
Puppies are welcome from 8 weeks of age, provided they’ve had their first vaccination. Our Alexandria classes close at 16 weeks — after that, our Teen Dog Classes are a great next step. We use a private, clean indoor venue and never run classes in public parks, so the health risk is minimal even before full vaccination.
When is the best time to join puppy school?
The ideal time is between 8 and 12 weeks — the peak of your puppy’s critical socialisation period. The earlier you start, the more your puppy benefits. Classes are open until 16 weeks, and even puppies who start a little later make great progress. If your pup is over 16 weeks, our Teen Dog Classes are designed exactly for that stage.
My puppy hasn't been fully vaccinated yet, can I still join puppy school?
Yes — your puppy only needs their first vaccination to join. The most important socialisation period runs from 8–12 weeks, long before full vaccination is complete. Our Alexandria venue is a private, clean indoor location disinfected with F10 — the same product vets use — and studies show well-run puppy schools carry no significant health risk. We’ve run classes for years with zero health incidents.
How many puppies are in each Alexandria puppy class?
Our Alexandria puppy classes have a maximum of 8 puppies per class, ensuring every pup and owner gets proper individual attention. The small group size also makes socialisation much calmer and more manageable — perfect for young puppies.
My puppy is over 16 weeks — can they still join puppy school?
Our Alexandria puppy preschool runs for puppies up to 16 weeks of age. If your pup has passed that window, our Teen Dog Classes are the ideal next step — tackling all the foundations and common adolescent behaviours in a supportive group setting.
What will my puppy learn in the Alexandria puppy classes?
Our 4-week puppy class covers sit, down, stay, come, loose leash walking, socialisation, impulse control and common issues like biting and jumping. You’ll also learn how puppies think so training stays consistent and effective at home between classes.
Is the Alexandria puppy preschool suitable for all breeds?
Absolutely — our Alexandria puppy classes welcome all breeds and sizes. Socialisation is always structured and carefully supervised so every puppy, from the tiniest toy breed to the largest pup in the group, has a safe and positive experience.
Is there still availability in the Alexandria puppy school?
Our online booking calendar is live 24/7 — if a puppy class is sold out it will show as unavailable. If it’s showing available, it’s bookable! Spots fill quickly so we recommend booking as soon as your puppy has had their first vaccination.
