Why Should You Crate Train Your Dog?
Because I want you to have the same thing I have; calm dogs who are completely comfortable in their crates. This is a very useful skill and will provide your dog with more freedom – as they can follow you on holidays as well!
For many people the primary use for a crate is toilet training. The crate can also be used to limit a puppy’s access to the rest of the house while they learn other rules, like not to chew on furniture. Crates are also a safe way to transport your dog in the car or keep them safe in environments where it’s not safe for them to free roam!
The reason why I crate train my dogs is to create a safe place for them to feel comfortable in any situation. I take my dogs to big dog events and competitions all the time and they can be very loud and chaotic places and it makes me feel good knowing that my dogs feel secure and stress-free in situations that could be very stressful otherwise. I also take my dogs on boat trips and travel with them staying in hotels, they are much happier with me staying with them when I tell them that my dogs are crate trained!
The reason why crate training is one of the best things you can teach to your dog is because it takes advantage of your dog’s natural instincts as a den animal. In the wild, the den is a home, a place to sleep, hide from danger and raise a family.
