What is the age limit for puppies to join my puppy schools in Sydney?
Your puppy must be under 16 weeks of age and have had at least the first vaccination.
What Is Good Age for Puppy School?
As early as possible after the first vaccination has taken effect at 8 weeks of age!
This is something that confuses a lot of people: what is a good age for puppy school. 8 weeks old puppies seem so young and delicate, our natural instinct is to protect them. However, it’s crucial to get the socialisation done right and the earlier the better!
Many studies on canine behaviour have taught us that if a puppy isn’t socialised before 16 weeks of age they will struggle in new situations. This is a survival instinct inherited from wolves, anything puppies haven’t met or experienced in a positive way before 16 weeks of age becomes scary.
8-12 Weeks Is the Most Important Socialisation Period
This is the time for any positive socialisation and new experiences because the puppy is most open to new things at the age of 8-12 weeks. If you want your dog to grow up to be a balanced and confident dog, this is the ideal time for puppy training and socialisation.
