All dogs need enrichment to be happy and it should be daily. Lucky for us, there are easy ways of offering it – every day! Here’s advice from your Eazy Dog Trainer in Newington.

Involvement in Family Life

Dogs should be involved in our daily lives, not just kept in the back yard on their own all the time. Take your dog with you to cafes, parks, events and trips when you can and you’ll be enriching their life a lot!

Play

Play is one of the best ways to create a strong bond and entertain your dog. Fetch, tug of war, hiding toys/treats, or hiding from your dog and calling them to look for you are just a few ways of playing with your dog.

Trick Training 

Youtube is a great source of tricks and you will find a huge range of different levels of tricks there to practise with your dog at home and out and about. Make sure you have some of your dog’s favourite treats (or a selection of them) to use in training. Keep sessions short to keep your dog engaged and break down the trick into multiple steps if and when needed.

Scent Activities

Nosework is a great mental excersice and can be done in many different ways. You can start by hiding treats in your home/yard/in boxes and let your dog find them!
