Maximize Your Working Dog’s Potential with Our Specialized Training Class!
This class is ideal for border collies, kelpies, Australian cattle dogs, German shepherds, Belgian malinois, huskies, malamutes, vizslas, weimaraners, Dobermanns, boxers, Rottweilers, working line labradors, spaniels, and any other high-drive breed that needs more than a standard obedience class. If your dog has more energy than you know what to do with, is obsessive about toys or movement, herds children or other animals, or struggles to switch off — this class was made for them!
Working breeds are incredibly smart and driven, but without proper training, their energy can turn into unwanted behaviours like excessive barking, jumping, obsessive behaviours, over-arousal or anxiety. Working breeds were developed to run, herd, hunt, or guard — often across vast open spaces. Living in a city like Sydney presents a unique set of challenges for these dogs. Confined spaces, lead walking, busy streets, and a lack of purposeful tasks can leave working breeds frustrated, bored, and difficult to manage.
Without an outlet for their natural drives, that energy goes somewhere — usually into behaviours owners find exhausting or destructive. This Working Dog Class in Sydney gives urban working breed owners the tools and strategies to meet those needs in a practical, city-friendly way.
This Working Breed Dog Training Class Includes:
- Healthy engagement
- Building drive
- Using toys correctly/Proper toy handling
- Impulse control
- Clicker training
- Understanding working breed needs
- Desensitisation to stimulus
- Dangers of over-stimulation and how to avoid it
- Healthy walks and enrichment out and about
- Enrichment for working breeds
- Calming down skills: Finding that off-switch
- Basic obedience and tricks as mental stimulation
- Different reward techniques
- All the above in a real-life situation, learn how to manage your working dog in stimulating environments. Learn how to build engagement with you, not with the environment.
When Does This Working Breed Training Run?
Our Working Dog Class runs occasionally, a few times throughout the year based on demand — it doesn’t follow a fixed monthly schedule like our other classes. If there’s no date showing in the booking calendar, the next round hasn’t been scheduled yet.
To be notified as soon as a new date is confirmed, email us at info@eazydogtraining.com, and we’ll add you to the waitlist. The sooner you express interest, the sooner we can schedule the next class!
Is This Working Dog Class Right Fit for Your Dog?
Our popular Working Breed Class in Sydney is for high-drive, intelligent, or working-breed dogs that find standard obedience classes too easy, too slow, or just not enough of a challenge.
It’s a great fit for:
- Working and herding breeds with strong instincts — border collies, kelpies, shepherds, malinois, cattle dogs
- High-energy dogs that struggle to focus or settle in everyday situations
- Dogs that are obsessive about movement, toys, or other animals
- Owners who feel like their dog is smarter than they are and need help keeping up
- Dogs that have completed basic obedience and are ready for the next level
Please note: this class is not suitable for reactive, aggressive, or anxious dogs who cannot work around other dogs.
Not sure if your dog is ready? Contact us, and we’ll help you choose the right service.
Why Choose Our Working Breed Dog Training Classes in Sydney?
Our working breed class runs as a small group dog training course — capped to keep sessions productive and the learning environment calm. If you’ve been looking for a group dog training class that genuinely caters to high-drive, intelligent breeds rather than treating every dog the same, this is it. It’s a structured 4-week dog training course that gives working breeds the mental challenge they need alongside the obedience foundation that makes them easier to live with.
Tailored for High-Energy Breeds: Working breeds are often driven, intelligent, and need more than just basic obedience. This class is designed specifically to meet the unique needs of these dogs, helping them stay mentally and physically engaged.
Advanced Obedience: We’ll work on more complex commands and behaviours and impulse control exercises that challenge their mind and body.
Harness Their Drive: Instead of letting your dog’s energy become a challenge, we’ll help you use it constructively. Expect activities that channel their drive into productive tasks, creating a more well-rounded and obedient companion.
Mental Stimulation: Working breeds need mental challenges to thrive. We’ll incorporate tasks and exercises that stimulate their problem-solving skills, making training exciting and rewarding.
Structured Training: Working breeds excel in environments where there is clear direction and consistency. Our class provides a structured, focused setting where your dog can learn, grow, and succeed.
By the end of the course, you’ll have a well-trained, balanced dog who is confident, focused, and ready to take on any task you give them.
Needed for this Working Dog Class:

Your dog’s favourite toy, ball and a tug toy
