A licky mat is a great training tool that allows your dog to calm down and focus on something constructive while learning a calm mental association with different things and situations. I use them a lot with young dogs and for any kind of calming down or independence training. Simply give it to your dog when you wish them to calm down! They work very well for crate training, waiting calmly when tied up, for long stays and place training.
