Is Your Puppy Too Confident?

I witnessed a very confident young puppy at the park the other day. This puppy was happily running around, from one dog to another, following just about anyone, without a worry in the world! To the point that the puppy disappeared from the owners, following other dogs to a popular swimming spot. It was obvious these owners were not familiar with this park and their puppy didn’t pay any attention to them or come back to them when called, in fact, the owners were chasing the puppy around in pure panic. Unfortunately, this is very common and not at all safe. This puppy could easily follow people and other dogs on busy roads or even get taken by someone else while the owners aren’t anywhere to be seen. And there’s nothing wrong with the puppy’s behaviour either, this is to be expected from puppies and young dogs.

Puppy Trainers Sydney – Puppies Need Management, a long Line Is Great for This!

Puppies require training and management so that they wouldn’t learn the wrong things in the first place, such as taking off on their own. Having a confident puppy is a great thing, it’s what I call a positive problem, but it does require extra attention on this to prevent horrible accidents. The next time you take your overly confident, world-loving pup out, keep him in a long line until some basics such as paying attention to you have been learnt.
