Six Commands Your Dog Should Learn – Dog Obedience Class Sydney

Eazy Dog Training Dog Obedience Class Sydney

Obedience training will not only teach your dog to behave better, it will keep them safe. And it is never too late for dogs to learn! Eazy Dog Training runs dog obedience classes in Sydney. My next dog obedience class Sydney starts on the 9th of June!

There are many reasons why dog obedience training is important.

First, obedience training helps dogs adjust to family life and in our human society. It will teach them how to interact with their owners, environments, other dogs/animals and strangers.

Second, obedience training teaches your dog what is required of them.

When Should Training Begin?

Obedience training should start right away when you bring your puppy home. That’s why a puppy preschool is a good way to start!

Puppies are fast learners and quickly adapt to their environment. However, they can become fearful and aggressive if they aren’t trained and socialised during the early months of their life. Expose puppies to as many new people, places, and animals as possible in a positive way!

Start your puppy’s basic obedience training right away, but don’t expect them to learn immediately!

Six Basic Commands You Should Teach Your Dog

These are all included in my online dog training course!

These commands are also trained in my Eazy Dog Training Dog Obedience Class Sydney!

Sit

This is something every owner generally teaches their dog. But very often the training is unfinished ending up with a dog who can only sit for a little while, with a treat or when using a hand signal. I’ll teach you how to keep control of your dog, no matter the situation, using this basic command.

Down

Lying down makes a dog more relaxed and calm. This is a helpful command when you need to stay somewhere longer and you want your dog to calm down and wait.

Stay

Teaches your dog to remain still, calm, and in one place. A very helpful command for many situations.

Come

This is one of the most important commands, and often struggled with. Recall should get your dog to come to you immediately upon your command. You should begin to teach this command to your puppy as soon as they recognise their name. This command could potentially help you protect your puppy from harm.

Heel

Teaches your dog to stay close to you as you walk, with or without a lead. Very useful when passing something you don’t want your dog to get interested in.

Leave it

An excellent command to use when you encounter something you don’t want your dog to touch. It takes a lot of focus and willpower from your dog especially when you want them to leave food. But when mastered, it is very impressive command!
